In every participating country there is at least one secondary school, where all the Learning Objects will be piloted, evaluated and finalised. In close cooperation, the partners and schools will work together to create customised and innovative learning objects.
Pilot partner schools, Germany
The Holbein-Gymnasium is a grammar school with about 1200 pupils, some 46% girls. About 115 teachers teach in 29 classes (year 5-10) and in sixth form courses (year 11-12). From September 2003 Holbein-Gymnasium offers two branches of study: Foreign Languages (SG) and Science/Technology (NTG). Both branches start with Engisch as first foreign language.
Wernher-v.-Braun-Gymnasium is a grammar school with about 1100 pupils, approx. 40% girls. There are about 120 teachers and 32 classes (year 5-10) as well as various sixth form courses (year 11-12). There are two educational branches: Focus on Foreign Language and Focus on Science and Technology. All students learn English as their first foreign language, they choose between French and Latin as their second foreign language (year 6). There is the possibility to replace Latin or French by Italian in year 10.
The Thomas-Gymnasium is a grammer school with 295 girls and 304 boys in 2012. There are teaching 53 teachers in two educational branches, with a focus on music and art or a focus on business science. All starts with English. As a late beginning language they can learn Italian.
